Hair and Makeup artists
Valentina Pintus pursued her passion for beauty after studying a Bachelor in Fashion, leading her to the Professional Makeup Academy in Rome and the London Academy of Freelance Makeup to refine her skills. Over the last 6 years, she has been working professionally overseas in the beauty, fashion, bridal and movie industry for clients such as Milan Fashion Week, AltaRoma and Elite Model Look Italy and publications ELLE, Lone Wolf, Lui Magazine Italia, Glamour, Ellements Magazine, Vatra, Dazed and PhotoVogue Italy.
Tell us about your start in the industry in Italy?
As soon as I finished my Diploma I started assisting one of the best and well-known Makeup Artists in Italy, Valeria Orlando. Learning from a professional was very important to become a better artist and I managed to work with many big-time Italian photographers such as Eolo Perfido.
After about a year after I had developed a good portfolio and I started getting my own clients for fashion editorials and runways. Fashion has always been my passion!
Best job you have done?
Definitely the couple of editorials I did for Elle Singapore. It's amazing working with an international team in some of the most beautiful locations in Italy, Rome and Florence. And loved all the beautiful outfits!! We had Hermès (my absolutely favourite), Balenciaga, Versace just to name a few designers...Fantastic!
I love Make-Up Artist magazine. I am a bit old school so I prefer paper magazines to Blogs or websites. Make-Up Artist magazine has a very wide eye on everything that is make-up and beauty related - from theatre to movies, beauty to prosthetics - it is an invaluable source of inspiration.
What is your favourite look to do with makeup?
It's a difficult question, because I like many looks from natural to bold and avant-garde - but if I have to pick one my favourite is probably glowy skin, soft, glossy, smokey eye and nude lips.
Hair or makeup, what is your preferred?
To be honest I love both the same way as they allow me to express my creativity in different ways. I find hairstyling more challenging and I like that!
Who do you like shooting with here?
I absolutely loved shooting with Breanna Sheater, she is a great photographer and a lovely person. Our work together was outstanding.
Who would you like to shoot with here?
I would like to shoot with Elizabeth Grinter and Katriena Emmanuel. I definitely want to work with everyone in the Illuminate Management team though!
Does the humidity in the air change how you do makeup and hair?
When you work with a high level of humidity you always need to be prepared. For Make-Up prep it is very important to hold the makeup in place, so I always use an oil-free moisturizer and a good primer before applying foundation.
Hair tends to get frizzy with humidity that's why I keep an anti-frizz serum in my kit and an anti-humidity spray.
What brand of makeup do you like to use?
I am not a "One Brand" Makeup Artist, you can find many different brands in my kit like Make Up For Ever, Urban Decay, NARS, Hourglass, Josie Maran, RCMA. Anyway I prefer professional brands.
Where do you buy your makeup?
Mostly online or at MECCA Cosmetics.

The foundation of Mia’s success relies on a perfectly matched formula that has made her on-trend artistry constantly in demand – a combination of her instantly recognisable aesthetic and signature looks, working as a educator to creatives and the public through her nationwide master classes and the tactical promotion of her work and achievements through social media.

Expanding to representation of all fields (makeup, hair, styling, retouching, production) was a natural progression for the agency as clients began to relentlessly request artists like Gold Coast local Mia for bookings. “Queensland has consistently produced top creative talent but agency representation has not always been available- Illuminate is thrilled to stand in as the body that supports premier local talent such as Mia.”
The Australian Beauty Industry Award’s expert panel of judges (including past recipients, media gurus, industry specialists) acknowledged Mia’s endeavors in education as a great strength that sets her aside from other creatives. Travelling on tour to Australian capitals throughout the year, her ‘Beautiful Brides’ and ‘Smoke Bomb Eyes’ Masterclasses are a sell out. Recently back from a whirlwind trip to the States, Mia sights her next goal as breaking into the U.S. Market with her Masterclasses.
